The Compassionate Mind Training (CMT) course is an eight-session evidenced-based course developed by Irons & Heriot-Maitland (2020) from Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). It aims to help participants develop compassion towards themselves and other people, which has been shown to help with a range of common problems such as shame, self-criticism, emotion management problems, anger, anxiety, low mood, stress, and low self-esteem.
Each session is two hours long and involves a mix of learning approaches, such as information provided by the facilitator, group exercises, practices such as visualisation and mindfulness, videos, and written work. Participation in exercises is voluntary and you will not be asked to share information or contribute to group discussions unless you want to. Each course will include a maximum of 10 participants and your facilitator will support you to apply what you have learned at your own pace, to make lasting changes.
The group course is held at the Avonway Community Centre in Fordingbridge, Hampshire.
